ABOUT: Needed to write a poem for an English assignment my senior year of high school, and this is what came out. Partially true, though some things are exaggerated. Doesn't have a name, so it got a number like the others. Click here to read more poems.

#11

There's snow on the ground
but the sky is clear.
It reminds me of your winter eyes
(like summer skies),
It reminds me of that February day
(we drove so much that day
and saw such beautiful things).

The sun beams through the clouds
(remember those clouds?
and the rays reflecting off the perfect ocean?
it looks like heaven, you said,
like heaven falling from the sky)

That song comes on my radio
(I think of you whenever I hear that song,
and the times we had that February day)
and his voice fills the air
(that voice, you said,
there's nothing in the world like it).

I feel the burn come to my eyes
(I've cried so much for you, you know
cried so much these past few years)
and I know that you're not mine
(but you were mine that February day,
as you lingered behind to walk with me
and snuck glances through your rear-view).
